Ward Party

Okay so usually I probably wouldn't post about a ward party but our last one was a lot of fun. Okay this was the funniest thing ever. They had husband and wife teams and the goal was to empty the shaving cream can and whoever made the tallest pile won. It was so funny plus the men that were up there were bishops, former bishops, patriarch, and stake presidency members. I loved it when the stake president member started the shaving cream fight with the bishop and totally got him by surprise.
Then there was a soda chugging contest, which Tad participated in. Give that guy soda and he's in. I just had to laugh because it was binge drinking at a church social.

They even got the kids involved. I love how serious E is on the right. He was the winner for the kid's group.

Katie's Baby Shower

Okay so I've been dying to make tissue paper pom poms for awhile now. I think they are the cutest things ever so when planning for Katie's shower I knew these were a must.

This was a shot before we moved the tables over there. When the party was over I didn't want to take them down. I loved them.

It was a lot of fun catching up with people from high school that I haven't seen for awhile.

A photos of the SBK Heffers. Sabrina, Bonnie Katie. When we were in high school we would have contests on who would eat the most at lunch, then whoever did was the heffer of the day. Yes we are so nice to each other. Now all the heffers are moms or soon to be. Seems so weird sometimes.
Katie, Erin and Camille

I shouldn't have been in this picture because these were all girl's that went to Orchard Elementary. Also I didn't eat cheezies in the grass like they did in elementary. There's Laura, me, Katie, Angela and Tiffany (expecting her 4th). Angela brought all the toppings for the crepes and it was so good especially my nutella one. I think Nutella is my new love.

East's Fruit Salad

This is my new favorite easy salad. It's better than that jell-o salads with cottage cheese or cool whip because you don't have to let it set. Here's the recipe.
1 can crushed pineapple, undrained
1 small package lemon instant pudding
1 can tropical fruit salad, drained
1 can mandarin oranges, drained
That's it.
I usually add 2 apples cut up and 2 bananas. The best part because of the pineapple juice they don't turn brown. I think I might try adding peaches next time I make this.

Girl's Camp '09

This year for girl's camp we went to South Fork up Weber Canyon. I think this area might be my favorite camping spot in Utah now. It was so much fun and there are tons of trees that it's just so pretty and is only an hour away.

Here are all the girl's ready to make their camp chairs from PVC pipe. They were so cute.
Here's all the leaders minus Collette and Maureen. We had a girl get sick so Maureen went home for the night. Okay so we always have to play little pranks on the 1st years. Well across from our campsite was a group of 16-17 year old scouts. So we sent the girl's over to get a smoke shifter. They of course didn't have one. So the girl's came back and then all the girl's left to go snipe hunting. Well while they were gone all the scouts came over to visit. They were the nicest boys, all of them Eagle Scouts. Well when the girl's came back they all went back to their camp but later came back over and visited for at least 2 hours. We do a Miss Congeniality each night at camp but we also did a Mr. Congeniality this night. We finally had to close the party down when neighbor campers were complaining.Leah showing off our value flags and of course flirting with the scouts. Luckily (or unfortunately if you're a YW) the scouts left the next morning. Everyone got their certification done early so we could spend most the day tubing down the river. This was my favorite part of camp. One last group photo of us in our river gear.It rained, thundered and lightninged our last night and we had to pack up in the rain but that was okay because it just got the girl's to move faster. We also had one girl go home early because she broke her arm but luckily her family was there so things worked out. Next year Heber Valley. Wahoo!

Grilled Steak and Summer Vegetables with Pesto

In our quest to not eat out more than once a week I made this. I actually got my husband to eat vegetables. It was actually a really good meal so I have to share. Go here for the recipe. I didn't cut up the steak like they said to, I also only used 2 zucchinis and yellow squash (you'll still have tons of it). I also thought it would taste really good if you added mushrooms to the veggies if you like those.

I also made Eggplant Parmesan. Click here for recipe. I'd never cooked eggplant before and it was very easy to work with. So hopefully I'm not the only one out there trying new recipes.

Also I received My So-Called Life from Netflix tonight. I remember loving this show back in 1994. I thought it would seem super cheesy now but nope it was still amazing. I loved Angela's mom and their relationship. Angela's mom totally reminds me of my mom. Also who could forget Jordan Catalano? I was laughing so hard when Angela would describe seeing him and every stupid little thing. Totally reminded me of jr. high and high school. So funny. Am I the only one that would watch this back in jr. high?

Girl's Camp Eve

Girl's camp was only 2 1/2 days this year so the night before we decided to take the girls to the Joseph Smith movie and then have a dinner.

S0me of the girls had never been toCafe Rio so we made the pork salad for dinner. I know I'll give you a moment to get over the shock.

We had the dinner at my house so I was in charge of all the decorations. It was a lot of fun to get it all ready, I just wish I didn't wait till the last minute because I had several other creative projects going on so it was a week full of staying up past midnight all week but it turned out good.

Since I can't have a blog post without Lindsay in it here is one of the tables. Lindsay is in yellow. Below is another table with El Presidente - Jenefer, Assistant Camp Director - Michelle and some of the girls.
The only thing that went wrong was we had crazy swarms of wasps going after the meat. I'd never seen wasps act like that and it was scary but they were only interested in the meat and no one got stung.
Here is a group shot of everyone.

Craft Lake City

This Saturday there is a craft festival at Gallivan Plaza called Craft Lake City. It's their first year but I'm so excited that SLC is doing something that's been going on in big cities like NYC and San Francisco. If you go to their website you can check out the artists that are going to be there. I think it would be fun to get a group together and either go eat at the Farmer's Market or Gourmandie's and then go to the festival. Hope you'll check it out.

Brownie Peanut Butter Cups

I made these for a BBQ we had on the 4th. When I say they are easy I really mean it. I don't usually bake, Tad does all our baking but these were so easy to make and so so so good.

If Ryan Downer hadn't brought a s'mores cake Tad would have been raving about these but they were still really really good.

Snowbird

So I've set some goals for August. The Fullers can only eat out once a week and so far I feel like it's killing me cooking dinner every night. I'm not counting the Farmer's Market as eating out because I haven't been able to go to the SLC one once.

Also I read a lot of books in July. I read 9 books and none of these were tiny books, they were all about 300 pages. So since July was so busy and every second I wasn't doing something I was reading the blog got neglected so my other goal is to post at least 3 times a week. The good news about being so busy is I have plenty of blog material to post. Okay, enough rambling.

When Teisha and the kids were in town we all went up to Snowbird. There are $10 off adult admissions on Diet Pepsi cans but make sure you check the cans (we found the marked cans at Maverick). We'd gone to Snowbird before for their Summer activities and I have to say out of all the Utah resorts they have the best stuff, it's the prettiest Summer resort and you get the most for your money.

We were a little worried when we bought Logan's pass because it was $19 and we weren't sure if he'd love the alpine slide or hate it. You never know with this kid.Well he loved it. He would yell, "Wee!" the whole way down the hill. It was so cute even though in this picture he doesn't look like he's having a good time. He also loved the bounce house. At first he seemed scared of all the kids but then he loved it.Here's Teisha and the kids, this was the best photo we got because boy wonder wouldn't cooperate at all. There was also a big lightening storm coming through so we had to leave the top pretty quick and they closed the tram after that.
It was totally different from the last time we were up there because there were tons of wildflowers. This time was earlier in the season so there was still tons of snow.
